The ninth annual Snowy Ride had perfect weather and brilliant riding conditions to make this event, once again, an overwhelming success. With 3,225 riders coming from Australia, New Zealand, the UK & the United States, the event raised more than $275,000 for research into a cure for childhood cancer and support of children with cancer.
With over 21,000 riders taking part in the last nine years, and major sponsors such as Honda being involved, organisers declare the target for the tenth anniversary next year is to raise an overall total of $3 million.
The Snowy ride was launched in 2001 as a request from Steven Walter, a young man who lost his fight against cancer at the age of just 19. It is a motorcycle event run annually in the Alpine Region of NSW, with the aim of involving riders from all over Australia.
